At present,
The Bowflex Revolution home gym is sold only at at the Bowflex website and currently they are offering free delivery until March 31st. I have used it and can validate that it is a very smooth and multi-purpose piece of equipment. The Bowflex Revolution home gym has SpiraFlex Resistance Technology, giving you the same advantages as free weights.
It is not obtainable in stores but you can order it online here.
For cardio machines Bowflex has the Bowflex TreadClimber. Similar to the home gyms, different versions of the machine are available and the price varies from $3,399.00 to $1,599.00. The different models can be compared on bowflex.com to be certain the model you obtain has everything you are looking for and has the correct measurements for the amount of space you have to devote to it.
With the more expensive models you are going to get wireless heart rate monitor and more electronic functions ranging from 12 functions down to 3. The quick start button, calories burned and climb indicator are pretty much not available on the lower two models. If these aspects are significant to you then you will want to make sure noat to buy the lowest end models. On a personal note, I believe that the very top model is a bit too excessive - I don't need 12 electronic functions. But, I use some of the functions which is why I find the bottom 2 models too lacking and not useful enough. I advise somewhere in the middle for the Bowflex TreadClimber.
The preferred 2 in my opinion are the Bowflex TreadClimber TC5000 and the Bowflex TreadClimber TC5300. Select this link for more details.
The reason my customers like the Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells so much is due to the fact that they require not much space. For traditional free weights you will need to use a lot of money on a number of different weights that classically are sold in increments of 3lb, 5 lb, 8lb, 10 lb, 12lb, 15 lb and up every 5lbs from the 15 lb weights. If you don't have a lot of space in your home this will be an issue - where will you find the space to keep it all? And further more, you will need to obtain several racks , each costing over a $100 just to store these dumbbells on. As a result, if you are searching for for something easy to use and don't have a lot of storage space I would advise the Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells for you.
Now, here is what I advise on which version to buy. If you are a woman and are just looking to strengthen and tone up, and not put on a lot of bulk and only want to add some light strength training into your routine then I would recommend going with option number 3 which is "Tone up & Get Fit" Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells 220. It's in fact the most basic version but the weights adjust from 2.5 to 20 lbs which should be adequate.
Yet, if you are even thinking that you might likely want to add some more muscle mass to shape and tone your body then I would suggest version 2 "Build Muscle and Get Toned" Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells 552 - no questions asked! The reason being is that if you are going to spend the money you should make sure that it has all the weights that you need. It would be unfortunate to buy "Tone up & Get Fit" Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells 220 and then discover that you actually have progressed to a 25lb weight for back and chest.
This may look as if it is to tough to do if you are not weight lifting at the moment however trust me, the back and chest muscles can pull/push a lot more weight than your smaller muscle groups like biceps and shoulders and therefore it is quite easy to work your way up to a 25lb free weight over the course of a couple of weeks. And if you want to continue challenging your body and forcing your muscles to get bigger you will ultimately have to increase the weight.
If you are a male then there are no exceptions, you must at the minimum purchase version 2 which is the "Build Muscle and Get Toned" Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells 552. You should even consider buying option 1 "Serious weight training" Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells 1090 more then ever if you are currently weight lifting and want to substantially increase your muscle mass.
The main difference between the 3 options is value the weights can increase to. The first version, "Serious weight training" Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells 1090 replaces 17 sets of traditional free weights and the weights adjust from 10 to 90lbs. Version 2, "Build Muscle and Get Toned" Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells 552 replaces 15 sets of traditional free weights and adjusts from 5 to 52.5 lbs. The third version, "Tone up & Get Fit" Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells 220 replaces 8 sets of traditional free weights and adjusts from 2.5 to 20 lbs - this will be simpler for the beginner female weight trainer as they are light and portable.
To change the weight all you have to do is rotate the dial and you can vary your resistance - much easier than having many free weights - again, Bowflex is super if you need to save space in your house.
In addition to the
The chief thing before buying any Bowflex machine is that you have the drive to succeed . I am particularly keen on Bowflex and suggest you buy it as it has very little downside. The only disadvantage to you will be if you buy it and then never use it. That is why you should be confident you are inspired to workout! Make sure that you are encouraged enough to exercise from your home instead of at a fitness center. A lot of my clients are capable of doing this and they do much better at it then having to pack up and go to the gym wasting driving time just getting there. Plus, they don't have to wait for exercise equipment to become available. With that said, there are many additional types of people who think exercising from home will be a good idea but it just doesn't go with their character and the equipment sits gathering dirt. Don't let this equipment sit gathering dirt! Use it and you will see the fantastic results that my customers achieving!
