In my opinion, Bowflex is in the top category of the most popular in home gyms! In fact, about 40% of my clients own a Bowflex and this is why I can highly recommend the Bowflex if you are looking to see some serious changes in your body!
There are many different versions available which I have listed below. All of the Bowflex models have composite rods of varying thickness which provides the resistance for strength training as opposed to the traditional weight stack that you will find in gyms and other home gym equipment lines. The most basic of the bowflex models comes with a tricep pushdown, leg extension/curl squat attachment, lat pulldown tower and 210 lbs of resistance.
Bowflex currently has 5 different in-home gym models; I have listed them here ranging in order from most expensive to least expensive:
1. Bowflex Ultimate 2 Home Gym for $2,299.00Bowflex has a great way to compare all these systems if you go to their website and click on comparisons - it will print a list for you of what all the features are on each machine and you can then compare them against one another. This can make narrowing your choice down much easier.
The biggest difference between the highest and lowest price machine has to do with how many exercises you can perform on it. For example, on the Bowflex Ultimate 2 Home Gym you can perform up to 95+ different exercises while on the Bowflex Blaze Home Gym you can perform 60+. So, if having variety and different choices of exercises are important to you then I believe it's well worth it to spend some extra money and upgrade to a more expensive model so that you get everything you want. The top of the line models also come with more attachments and accessories - well worth the money in my opinion. I mean, once you decide you are making the investment you mine as well make it worth while by making sure you get everything you want out of it - otherwise, why bother?
The standard weight resistance for the Bowflex Ultimate 2 Home Gym and Bowflex Ultimate XTLU is 310 lbs whereas the weight resistance for the others is 210 lbs. Also, the top 2 models have a much longer warranty. However, one very important factor to consider is to make sure you have the space for it. Especially for the larger models. You can get the dimensions directly from www.bowflex.com - regardless, you should make sure you have enough space in your workout room. The most common mistake my clients make is that they make their workout rooms too small. If it's small and cramped you won't want to work out in it and your equipment will be cramped as well - who wants that?
My clients have had amazing results using the bowflex machines. I am not as familiar with the two lowest end models as the ones I train my clients on are either the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym, Bowflex Ultimate XTLU or Bowflex Ultimate 2 Home Gym. In fact, some of my clients look even better than those that go to the gym on a regular basis - I think it helps that they have me there to show them proper form and function and exactly how to use it so they get the most out of it. You can get the same though - the product comes with a dvd and it never hurts to higher a personal trainer for 1 or 2 sessions to show you how to use it properly - you will then really get your money's worth out of it!
The most important thing before buying any bowflex product is that you are a self motivated individual. Look, I love the product and highly recommend it, it has very little downside. The only downside cost to you will be if you buy it and then never use it. That is why you should make sure you are a self motivated individual! Make sure that you are motivated enough to get workouts done out of your home rather than at a gym. I do find many of my clients are capable of doing this and they do much better at it then having to pack up and go to the gym wasting driving time just getting there. Plus, they don't have to waste time waiting for gym equipment to free up. That being said, there are many other types of people who think working out from home will be a good idea but it just doesn't jive with their personality and the machine sits collecting dust. Don't let this machine sit collecting dust - it's too good to waste just sitting in your corner. Put it to work for you and you will see the amazing results that my clients are seeing!
