There is no doubt about it, if you want a rocking hot body then strength training is a necessity!! Focusing only on cardio and nutrition will NOT sculpt nice shapely muscles. If you want your butt lifted and nicely toned arms and shoulders then you MUST begin a strength training program that will tone your body. Just like I believe each individual should get a customized nutrition program to fit their goals and lifestyle, I also believe it's essential to have a customized strength and cardio program if you want to see the best results.

Many people out there think they everything there is to know about fitness but that right there is a trouble sign. There are constantly new techniques and avenues to explore in the realm of body sculpting and fitness training. Often times just tweaking your program a bit can allow you to see major results that you were previously missing out on. Be open and willing to seek out new information in the fitness world if you expect to see great results from your body.

It's such a shame that so many women in particular shy away from strength training because they envision themselves quickly turning into a muscle bound body builder. Well, I am here to tell you that is just not going to happen! Women just aren't capable of putting on that kind of muscle mass since we don't have testosterone in our bodies. Just to the contrary strength training will trim you down and keep your bones healthy and strong.

If you are just doing a cardio training program chances are you are not happy with your results. Trust me on this one, start simple and add a basic cardio circuit into your workout 2-3 times a week and the changes you see will be astounding! It might even peak your curiosity to learn more and start implementing a more structured strength training program into your routine to start getting more refined results.

Just 6 months ago I had a client that came to me looking to put on a little lean muscle mass in addition to me helping her with some aches and pains she was having. In fact, her first priority was just to feel better and get rid of the sciatic and shoulder pain she was having. She was a very thin woman with a frail frame - but a frame most women would die for. I knew that many of her problems were steaming from the fact that she had very little muscle supporting her skeletal system and slight frame.

I eased her into working with light weights adding new challenges each week and within 6 weeks time her pains were gone and she was seeing amazing results. In fact, our goal was NOT to get her to lose weight but what ended up happening is that she had to go get all of her close taken in! You see, in the process of putting some more lean muscle mass on her we actually replaced body fat with sleek muscle. Since muscle is more compact, it fits better in clothes and it's sleeker looking. She was feeling healthy, strong and more toned and getting compliments everywhere she went! All her colleagues were asking her what she was doing to look so good!

What was most astonishing to her was that the number on the scale never budged yet she had all her clothes taken in. I of course was not astonished - you see, the number on the scale does not mean as much when you are strength training. Once you get healthy and fit, have a cardio program and are eating right you really shouldn't concern yourself so much with the number on the scale! Lean muscle mass holds onto more water and can cause the scale to go up slightly or stay the same even though you are looking leaner and leaner.

I promise you ladies; don't judge yourself by a number. Start a body sculpting program today and you will see what I am talking about - don't miss out on the tremendous benefits that strength training can give you. Don't just be a cardio queen - explore other avenues and see how strength training can TRANSFORM your figure and give you that body which you have been seeking!

Q: I am trying to get fit and lose weight but I really want to avoid getting injured since I seem to have a tendency to get injured whenever I start a new workout program. My question is what is better for me running or walking?

A: Running will burn more calories per minute, but you need to start walking before you can run. If you start running before you have a good walking foundation you will increase your chances of injury.
